Spot Cleaning Hints

*Disclaimer: This information does not apply to all rugs and carpets.  We disclaim any and all liability expressed or implied from the use of the below methods.  Check your area rug manufacturer instructions for spot cleaning to find out what cleaners work best with your rug’s fibers.  If you have any questions, please call us, and we will guide you.*

Precautions: Never use a stronger concentration than is recommended.  Never use regular laundry detergent or automatic dish washing detergents as they may destroy or dye some fibers.  Do not saturate the rug or carpet - which could cause damage to the floor underneath.

Alcohol/Wine:
Blot up the surplus spillage with a clean, white terry cloth.  Mix 1 tsp. of a neutral detergent (such as “Woolite”) and 1 tsp. of white vinegar with 1 cup of warm water.  Work from the outer edge of the stain, using a little solution at a time and blotting frequently with the dry cloths.  Do not rub.  Repeat several times as necessary.

Blood:
Scrape up excess with a blunt knife.  Mix 1 tsp. of a neutral detergent (such as “Woolite”) with 1 cup of warm water.  Work from the outer edge of the stain, using a little solution at a time and blotting frequently with the dry cloths.  Do not rub.  Follow with an ammonia solution of 1 Tbsp. of household ammonia mixed with 1 cup of warm water.  Blot dry.
